Aquanote : The Pearl
Naked Music presents the solo album by multi-talented San Franciscan Gabriel Rene, the producer and songwriter behind Aquanote. Fusing captivating vocal performances with luxurious jazz-funk riffs and crisp, futuristic rhythms, "The Pearl" expands on the distinctive, genre-defying sound Aquanote has established through a handful of acclaimed Naked Music singles and remixes.Blending the electronic and the organic to craft his sound, Gabe's tracks go heavy on a 70s soul vibe, with spaced-out wah-wah guitars, muted horns and warm analog keyboards swirling in the mix. The beats flow seamlessly from dancefloor house down to stripped-down hip-hop, laying a solid foundation for the uplifting vocals that highlight "The Pearl." Brand new versions of Aquanote's previous Naked singles "True Love" and "Nowhere" (with vocals from veteran Bay Area chanteuse Zoe Ellis) are here, alongside future classics like "Waiting" and "All Over You" featuring Lisa Shaw.

Aquanote is the first major solo project for Gabe, who co-founded the quartet Soulstice alongside Andy Caldwell, sister/vocalist Gina Rene and longtime friend/DJ Mei-Lwun Yee. The third in a line of musicians, Gabe¹s been making music ever since his youth, exploring hip-hop, new wave and electro alongside his early love of Motown soul, classic jazz and blues. With "The Pearl", Gabe manages to touch on all of his influences and sounds while simultaneously pointing to the bright future that lies ahead for Aquanote and Gabriel Rene.
