![]() "Electronic renaissance man Craig Armstrong has done it all: studied composing at the Royal Academy of Music; worked with Madonna, Nellee Hooper, and U2; penned the score for Romeo + Juliet; and arranged the strings on Massive Attack's Protection. For The Space Between Us, he intertwines pop and classicism, offering languid hip-hop beats and swelling symphonics. Armstrong calls in Cocteau Twin Liz Fraser to add fragile vocals to "This Love" and Blue Nile lyricist Paul Buchanan to croon in "Let's Go Out Tonight." The set is similar in feel to the late, great Talk Talk's albums, and, appropriately, released on Massive Attack's Melankolic label." -- Request Magazine, 3/98 |
