Albin Lee Meldau delivers a soulful message of unity with his compassionate new video for “Same Boat,” a beautiful new song that caps off a remarkable year for the Swedish singer-songwriter who is an artist to watch for 2018. Albin also recently performed a touching rendition of “Same Boat” with the talented kids at Staten Island’s PS22 Chorus.
“Same Boat” has also been released as a digital single, which is available now to stream or download. Albin is featured on the new collection Holidays Rule Volume 2 with his remake of Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” featured alongside seasonal songs by The Decemberists, Lake Street Dive, Norah Jones, Paul McCartney and The Roots, and others.
2018 is shaping up to be a breakthrough year for Albin, who hails from Gothenburg, Sweden, the son of a Swedish jazz singer mom and a British punk rocker dad. Following two impressive EPs on Astralwerks, the singer-songwriter is set to release his debut full-length album next year. This year he made his debut at SXSW and Bonnaroo, and NPR Music featured him as part of their popular Tiny Desk Concert series declaring “Few singers can command an audience’s attention quite like Albin Lee Meldau… His voice is breathtaking, soulful, thunderous and impossible to ignore.”
Albin has already notched more than 27 million streams on Spotify with his song “Lou Lou” reaching #1 on Spotify’s Viral 50 chart in five countries. Albin was nominated for Best Newcomer at the 2017 Grammis (Swedish Grammy Awards) and won the 2016 Anchor Award, an international competition hosted by the Reeperbahn Festival in Germany that seeks out the best new emerging talent. He was selected by a jury that included producer Tony Visconti (David Bowie) who sang Albin’s praises in presenting him the award: “Something is pouring out of his heart and soul when he sings.”
