In just 7 short
years, Astralwerks has grown from one of America's earliest pioneers
of electronic music to become America's premier electronic music
label. This success can be attributed to consistently challenging
America's ears with a broad spectrum of music from artists like
Fatboy Slim, The Chemical Brothers, Air, Basement Jaxx, and The
Beta Band. Rather than release a mere "Greatest Hits" retrospective, RAREWERKS highlights Astralwerks' contribution to breaking electronic music in America, by releasing a collection of essential material from some of the biggest names in music. This is the first in a series of releases bringing rare and unreleased music from our roster to the fans. Rarewerks presents eleven essential tracks from eleven essential artists. These are prime tracks, most of which have been previously unavailable or available as ultra-limited DJ editions pressed to promote these top artists where they all got their start, in the clubs. All eleven tracks appear on CD in the US for the first time. Ten of these tracks have never before been commercially available in the US, including four of which have never been commercially available anywhere in the world, and are exclusive to this collection.
