Put together by two clubbing journalists, David Blot from Nova and Jerome Viger-Kohler from FG, along with a former underground rave promoter, Fred Agnostini, the new night set its sights on promoting the best of Parisian and international house.

The music policy was spot on, entry was free and the door policy enlightened. Not surprisingly, within a few months "Respect is Burning" became the ultimate club night. The event was named "club of the month" by the English style bible, The Face.

On the decks were Dimitri from Paris, Daft Punk, Philippe Zdar (Motorbass), Gregory, Deep, Cheers, Paul Johnson, Francois Kevorkian, Basement Boys, Ashley Beedle, DIY, and many more. Over 1,500 clubbers crowded onto the dance floor every Wednesday, from students to club babes, hip hop break dancers to garage vogueing artists, trainspotters to poseurs. A real melting pot of a club! |
