His previous recorded works include the track "Fantino", which he contributed to the Source Material compilation in 1999. In their review of this collection of new French artists, Rolling Stone drew particularly attention to Sébastien's song, calling it "one of the loneliest sounds you will hear this year". L'incroyable Vérité is an album about life. You can hear a dog singing, a woman screaming, and legs growing. It is also an album unlike any in recent years. L'incroyable Vérité was recorded between September 1999 and March 2000. Sébastien plays most of the instruments and produced his album himself. It was mixed by Quentin Dupieux (a.k.a. Mr. Oizo) and Sébastien Tellier in July 2000 with the help of Guillaume Lebraz. Sébastien Tellier and Mathieu Tonetti wrote the lyrics to the songs. Sébastien Tellier recommends that you listen to his album alone and by candlelight. |
